Last week we were working with Scene II Performing Arts Academy, based in Essex, on a really fun and creative promotional shoot. The college wanted to capture their style, individuality and flair through photography; from moody posed images to technical dance poses to incredible partner work. We worked closely with Scene II Performing Arts Academy and their students to create photos that sparked emotion.
When taking dance photos it's super important to set your camera to the right settings. Similar to sports photography you want a high shutter speed, creating crisp photos without any blur. For certain shots, like when tracking your subject, you may also want to up your aperture slightly, say from 1.8 to anywhere between 3-5.
Collaborating with Scene II on this shoot was a lot of fun for us. We had the opportunity to show our creativity and express our style as well as show the college and it's students off. From the start of the day when we were working with make up artist, Nicola Schuller, to the shot itself and to the post production this entire project was fun from start to finish and we think we got some pretty cool shots!
