Hello lovely blog readers,
This week we thought we'd write about my first ever engagement shoot! I had the privilege of capturing the amazing couple Tom and Grace at Hatfield Forest. It was a pretty great day; the sun was shining, we had chips and even ventured out on a rowing boat (much to my fear).
In preparation I looked at some of Capture House Weddings previous engagement shoots, I studied the style, the poses, the lighting and the feeling of the photos. Our style is a warm, easy appearance with fun casual poses and this was what I tried to recreate with Tom and Grace. We started with a few sit down poses underneath a tree.
When it came to editing these photos I didn't think the warmth was coming through enough so I added extra sunlight where the natural light was originally. After a few more intimate poses we wanted to embrace some fun so moved onto some piggybacks. After Tom trying to get Grace to carry him we finally managed to take a photo or two
As Hatfield Forest was such a stunning location we took our time walking around, looking for different photo spots and chatting. A great reason to offer an engagement shoot before a wedding is to personally get to know the couple so you have a prior connection with them on their big day. You learn their comforts, their humour and a little bit of their relationship. Tom and Grace are a fun, young couple who didn't care what poses we asked them to do, they dove straight in. When Jordan suggested a boat ride they were super excited, unlike me. However, this created some beautiful photos around the lake and some within the boat.
Between Jordan helping me out with various poses and positions and having an amazing couple to work with I was really pleased with my first engagement shoot. I cannot wait to shoot Tom and Grace's wedding next year! I'll be going solo (for the first time ahhhhhh) as Jordan is groomsmen and I honestly cannot wait. Here are a few extra photos to leave you with.
Thanks guys and we'll speak to you soon!
